There are filmmakers who follow a pattern while making movies. But it’s difficult to put Lingusamy in any category, for this director’s films are different from each other right from the day he started his career.
If his maiden venture ‘Anandam’ was on family values, his second film ‘Run’, starring Madhavan and Meera Jasmine, was a romantic action adventure. It raised many an eyebrow besides making Lingusamy hog all attention.
He then came out with ‘Ji’. The Ajith starrer talked about students entering politics. Besides, it also showed the other side of romance. Then came ‘Sandakozhi’, which took Vishal to the next level. The action movie set in a rural backdrop told filmbuffs a lot about the vim and vigour of villagers.
For his next film, Lingusamy joined hands with Vikram. The end-product is Bheema, a story on the lives of dons. The scenes that beautifully portrayed the chemistry between Vikram and Trisha and the scenes involving Prakash Raj and Vikram were the much talked about aspects of this movie. Need we say that they were conceived by Lingusamy?
In the meantime, Lingusamy floated Tirupathi Brothers, a production company. The first venture was ‘Deepavali’, directed by Ezhil with ‘Jayam’ Ravi and Bhavana in lead roles. Then it was ‘Pattalam’, starring Nadhiya and a host of new faces.
And now, Lingusamy is busy giving final touches to ‘Paiya’. On the movie, he says, “It is a travelogue kind of action adventure. Karthi starts a journey from Bangalore to Mumbai along with Tamannah. The hurdles they face during their trip and how they overcome everything is ‘Paiya’ to you.” |
